Sample Kits
Cost including postage is USD $5 (US/Canada) or USD $7 (International).
Additional sets can be included for USD $3 each, no additional postage cost.
Each kit contains several of each type listed below, cut to 7/8" (22.2 mm):
matte vinyl, unlaminated (best for labelling over chips with existing inlays, e.g. casino Paulsons)
glossy vinyl with smooth lamination (satin finish, no texture)
glossy vinyl with matte lamination (satin finish, slight texture)
glossy vinyl with textured lamination (satin finish, more texture)
glossy vinyl with glossy lamination (smooth and very shiny finish, no texture)
glossy vinyl with thick glossy lamination (smooth and very shiny finish, no texture)
glossy vinyl with thick matte lamination (satin finish, slight texture)
…plus a semi-random handful of extra labels from previous jobs.
Sample Station - If you let me know what you have in mind, I can make sure the semi-random handful of samples demonstrates what you are looking for.
The thickness test. Do yourself a favour and put two of the thick laminated samples back to back so the labels face each other. You will be able to see right away if the labels are too thick for the recess. Issues with stacking/wear/spinners and racking all happen when the labels come up too high.
Sample Artwork - White Background. This will be the default sample set unless you indicate you want a black background. If you want both white AND black, add $3 USD.
Sample Artwork - Black Background: White background is the default. If you want black background say so in your email. If you want both white AND black, add $3 USD.

Sample Size
All sample labels are made at 7/8" (22.2 mm) so they will fit flat on a majority of chips.
Of course, your custom labels can be made any size you want!
We are happy to help determine the right size for your chips. We have a wide array of sample chips on hand for exactly this purpose.

White Background vs. Black Background
It is surprising how much of a difference the background color can make to the overall look of a finished chip. If you already have a design in mind, and are just test-driving laminates, one sample set is likely sufficient.
We default to a white background set unless you request black instead.
BUT…
If the only thing you are sure about is the chip, then we might recommend getting both the dark and light background samples. It may just influence the design.

Lighting Counts
Do yourself a favor, and be sure to examine the sample labels (applied to test chips, perhaps) in the room you will be playing in.
It’s not just about feel. Different laminate catches the light differently, and what looks good in one lighting condition might reflect too much light in another condition. (Glare is bad!)

Sometimes you just can’t make up your mind… You won’t know for sure until you see the real thing on the chip. We understand that.
Once you are working on your design with Chris, he can make some custom samples for you to test drive before you decide.

This will be charged up front.
If you move forward with a full order, 50.00 USD will be credited at time of payment.
(The final cost ends up being 25.00 USD to cover the additional design work and materials, if you get your order printed.)
